Swiss American Sausage co.

The Swiss American Story

In 1930, Swiss American began producing quality sausage and dry-cured meats with a passion for excellence and a “Customer First” attitude for doing business.

In the early years, our original facility in San Francisco operated as a specialty salami factory.  Swiss American produced a variety of salami under the Marconi brand; supplying to delicatessens and grocery stores.  Our business grew with a one-on-one approach to customer satisfaction.

In the 1970’s, the company focused its attention on the growing airline, deli, pizzeria and frozen pizza markets.  By the end of the decade, the pizza industry had become our primary focus.  Pepperoni was the topping of choice and Swiss American quickly became the provider of choice for many large pizza chains as well as quality-minded independents.

As our customers’ needs evolved, so did our company.  With the addition of a new plant came a cooked sausage line and an assortment of chicken toppings and wings.  Customers could now turn to Swiss American for a complete line of quality meat toppings for their distribution, processing, and restaurant needs.  Today Swiss American operates from a state-of-the-art, 90,000 square foot facility, in Lathrop, California; ensuring we can meet the future demands of our customers.

For over 70 years, Swiss American has been true to its tradition of customer satisfaction.  These days, Swiss American enjoys being the largest manufacturer of pepperoni in the West.  We remain driven by a “Customer First” attitude and a commitment to our time-tested service philosophy.  As it was years ago, Swiss American takes a one-on-one approach with each customer and holds their complete satisfaction as our single highest priority.

Water Supply off by 40%

SACRAMENTO - The Department of Water Resources’ (DWR) second snow survey of the winter season indicates snow water content is 61 percent of normal for the date, statewide.“The low precipitation in January and snowpack results from today’s survey indicate California is heading for a third dry year,” said DWR Director Lester Snow. “We may be at the start of the worst California drought in modern history. It’s imperative for Californians to conserve water immediately at home and in their businesses.”

Manual survey results were taken at four locations near Lake Tahoe , and combined with electronic readings, indicate a statewide snowpack water content of 61 percent (49 percent in the Northern Sierra, 63 percent in the Central Sierra, and 68 percent in the Southern Sierra.) Last year at this time, snowpack was 111 percent of normal, but the driest spring on record followed resulting in a second consecutive dry water year. Daily electronic readings may be accessed at http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/snowsurvey_sno/DLYSWEQ
